USA RUGBY JOINS .RUGBY MOVEMENT

USA Rugby has shifted to a new home at usa.rugby, aligning with its flagship competition majorleague.rugby to showcase innovation and promote brand recognition on a global platform.

USA Rugby has added to its digital might by aligning its platform to world leaders in the game, including the rugby’s governing body, world.rugby.

The U.S. has been described as rugby’s sleeping giant. In 2018, rugby was the fastest-growing sport in the country, attracting more than a million new players in the preceding 10 years. Research showed more than 33 million people were at least interested in the game.

The talent being nurtured through the country’s 900+ college teams is already making an impact on the global game. The United States men’s team finished second overall on the world sevens circuit in 2019, with stars such as Carlin Isles and Perry Baker transforming the side into one of the most competitive in the world.

The USA women’s rugby team is also consistently ranked among the best in the world.

The opportunity to continue that growth is now greater than ever with its new usa.rugby platform, says USA Rugby.

“Nowhere in the world is there as much potential as there is here. It makes so much sense to align our growing strength on the field with a digital platform where we can promote our brands and teams and join the sport’s power brokers as part of the .rugby family.”

Having a .rugby domain gives USA Rugby an effective new way to raise awareness and participation in a number of ways:

  • Promoting all USA Rugby activities, including men’s and women’s teams, sevens rugby and Major League Rugby under a common online domain
  • Allowing for a natural, clear recall of rugby domains and URLs for fans, players and administrators
  • Improving the online visibility of USA Rugby and its affiliates through optimised domain names
  • Joining the growing .rugby presence that includes traditional powerhouses such as  Australia and South Africa

“The process of transitioning from our old website to our .rugby domain has been simple and smooth. We’re flying the flag for rugby in the U.S. and we’re tremendously excited about the potential to make domain names across the sport consistent for clubs and teams at all levels,”
